FREEDOM TO THINK is a 15-minute video recorded and performed by Ellen Gilbert, exploring the profound impact of digital technology on human autonomy and cognitive freedom. Created in response to her attendance at the conference "The Future of Digital Well-being" at Eindhoven University of Technology in Amsterdam, the film features Ellen performing a visual narrative with anti-facial recognition makeup and guided dialogue, revealing how pervasive digital surveillance and behaviour manipulation threaten our fundamental rights and freedoms. Drawing on insights from leading thinkers in digital ethics and wellbeing, this work calls for a new era of ethical technology that prioritizes human dignity, privacy, and the preservation of independent thought.
